Summer may be winding down, but things at our studio have been anything but quiet. Over the past few months, we’ve completed several projects, made exciting progress on others, and carefully packed and shipped our METAXIS exhibition for its first stop on the East Coast. It’s been a busy and rewarding season, and we’re excited to share a glimpse of what we’ve been creating, building, and exploring along the way.

We are excited to let you know that our traveling exhibition has landed on the east coast! METAXIS: A Collection of Ideas and Objects by Futureforms is on display at the Campbell Elmaleh Gallery at the University of Virginia School of Architecture through September 28th. This iteration of the show features models, drawings, and renderings including recent and in-progress Futureforms artworks from around the country.
If you are in the Charlottesville area, please join us for a lecture and closing reception on Monday, September 28th beginning at 5pm.

KIMSEY GROVE, a sculptural shade canopy outside of the newly opened AC Hotel in Scottsdale Arizona's Old Town, has been recently completed. Kimsey Grove creates a dramatic backdrop for pedestrians to gather, sit and view the play of light, shadow, and reflectivity from many vantage points.
INFINITE FORMS has been installed at University of Florida’s new "Ramos Collaboratory" building designed by Brooks + Scarpa at the College of Design, Construction and Planning in Gainesville. Viewed by a pedestrian walking along Stadium Road, the artwork shape shifts as the geometry evolves and changes, creating a multiplicity of forms.

DRIFT was recently installed in Boca Raton, FL and explores the the invisible forces that quietly shape our world. Suspended between earth and sky, a gathering of lightweight woven forms appears to move with unseen currents, capturing a fleeting moment of collective motion.
CIRRUS at the UC Davis medial campus in Sacramento, CA was photographed after being completed earlier in the year! Cirrus is a site-specific integrated artwork located in a ground-floor public breezeway, adjacent to the entry of a health care center.

STRETTO is becoming real! We are thrilled to see one of our largest artworks under construction in Anaheim, CA. Stretto translates sound into a fluid sculptural form, animated by light and color. It is a dynamic sculptural screen that activates OCVIBE’s Concert Hall facade with a dramatic wave-like form. Structural steel has been erected and the artwork's skin is being fabricated.

We have begun fabrication of CELESTIA! A suspended sculpture in the Peirce Atrium of the Kamin Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA, Celestia is an exciting visualization of the known universe. Hovering gracefully in the open atrium, the artwork is composed of thousands of colorful anodized aluminum elements, each representing clusters of individual galaxies. The artwork was commissioned by Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, which also supports the amazing Andy Warhol Museum and the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History.

We are thrilled to announce the addition of Alex Schofield to our team! Alex completed his M.Arch at UC Berkeley and has completed residencies at both Autodesk Pier 9 and the Workshop Residence in San Francisco. His personal practice focuses on emerging technologies, material research, and their implications within the built environment.

Zahabiya Sakarwala recently graduated from the California College of the Arts and was a former student resident at Autodesk. Prior to joining Futureforms this summer, she earned a travel grant to participate in a two-week workshop at Bamboo U in Bali, Indonesia where she learned sustainable architecture, design, and construction skills for building with bamboo.
